Diamond Jubilee Celebrations London

Welcome back to this week Tuesday Tots, I’m sorry if you were expecting to see some featured posts this week instead I wanted to share some pictures for an amazing weekend we had where J and T were present whilst History was being made.

Tuesday Tots Link PartyThis weekend Queen Elizabeth II celebrated 60 years on the throne and there has been amazing celebrations across the UK. We decided to brave it and headed to London on Sunday 3rd June to see the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Parade on the Thames. A flotilla of boats from rowing boats to paddle steamers and of course the royal barge with the Queen on going down the Thames for 7 miles.

We went with family and had a wonderful day with the typical British rain and cold. But were lucky enough to have an amazing location along the Thames directly opposite the London Eye.

J and T waited from 12pm in the same location without any problems, I had packed some entertainment including a pencil and paper which J decided to have a rest with and drew a picture of the Queen or “The leader” as he decided to name her.

When it came to the flotilla J and T took up position on our shoulders and waved like mad – continuing when they dropped their flags. J entertained the crowd around us with a rendition of Row Row Row Your Boat as the rowers headed down the Thames.

Even when the Queen had passed and the crowds started to disperse T stayed upon Pop’s shoulders taking in History in the making – it had been 300 years since a parade of boats had last gone down the Thames and it is unlikely in my life time that a Monarch will celebrate 60 years on the throne again.
