100 Family Adventures Book Review
Like most people, one of our goals this year is to spend more time as a family; not just time but real quality time doing meaningful activities that will connect and create those traditional childhood memories away from the screens of the modern world.
I have my family travel bucket list in my head.
It ranges from taking them to see Tower of London and Hayden’s Wall in the UK, to my home away from home – the rainforest of Costa Rica and some of the ancient sites that I visited when I was backpacking through the Pyramids and Machu Pichu
But often those half-day or day’s out at the weekend with the family I lack inspiration.
So 100 Family Adventures by The Meek Family is the perfect book for families like ours and yours as it’s full of ideas.

It really is the perfect year-round pickup and inspire me book for families.
I was lucky to grow up in an adventurous family.
Half terms as a child were spent learning and practicing skiing in Europe.
Summer found us exploring different places around the world, and camping, climbing and weekend trips to parts of the UK when the mood struck us.
Many of the activities included in the book are ones that I have grown up with but there are some new ones too.
Some of the ideas included in the book for adventurous families
Just take a look at some of the ideas that are included
- Exploring your local history
- Night walk in your local forest
- Dam a Stream
- Clean up a local park or beach
- Find a Waterfall
- Forage for Food
- Walk an ancient road
- Explore Rock Pools
- Crabbing
- Snow-hike

We have done some of the activities above but there are so many more that I can’t wait to give a go with my kids, and whilst a few of them we will do once, there are many, many more that we can do over and over again.
Whatever the season, there are activities for your family to enjoy together.
We’re off on a bike ride the next weekend we’re at home another of the fabulous ideas in the book.
100 Family Adventures* is for all families, but if you are after recommendations for your local area there isn’t that information, it’s available worldwide so the book would be enormous to include all that.
Instead, use the information contained within the book to find ideas and then search for what you could do in your area, or where you are visiting.
I’ve got this book sitting by my bedside now for when I need inspiration for what to do this weekend together as a family.
I know there will be screen-free ideas that we can do close to home, what-ever the weather, that will create lifelong memories for the kids and for us.
This book is something that I will be able to pick up and revisit time and time again whether they are preschoolers, tweens or teenagers.
