When we travelled to Walt Disney World back in 2015 one of the things that we were very conscious of is that travelling with 3 girls and 1 boy is that Disney has become known for the princesses but there are some very cool none princess activities for the kids that want those. Our family favourite is the Jedi Training Academy at Hollywood Studios.

Jedi Training At WDW Hollywood Studios
The Jedi Training Academy is for 4 to 12-year-olds and it’s every little Jedi’s dreams they get trained to fight the dark side and then….
Well J got to fight Darth Maull on the Star Wars Stage whilst Darth Vadar fought another young Jedi in the background!
HOW TO SIGN UP for the Jedi Academy
Jedi Training Academy works on a first come first served basis the registration booth is found at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost between the Indiana Jones Stunt Show and the 50’s Prime Time Cafe.
Check the opening times on the Walt Disney World Website and plan to head there to sign up for your Jedi Training.
Once you sign up you will be given a time and receipt as well as told when to return.
What to Expect at Jedi Training in Hollywood Studios
When you return for your timing your child will be registered and instructed what to do – it does need an adult to stay with them, but there is a bit of waiting so whilst Cerys waited I took T off to see her favourite little princess Sofia the First in a character meet and greet.

J was given a Jedi robe and sat whilst full instructions were given in the academy room.
Then the kids were taken out to the training ground in front of the temple to have their Jedi training with two Jedi Academy teachers.

The group was split into two – meaning it was easy to see what individual students were doing and there was a Walt Disney World Photographer on hand to take the pictures attached to the memory maker and download when we got home.

Mid-instruction the doors of the temple open behind and two of the fabulous characters from the dark side appear.
From watching shows throughout the day these varied so you can’t guarantee one of the other.
Then each Jedi in Training is invited up to fight the dark side, battling with lightsabers to defeat them under the tuition of their Jedi Teachers.

After they defeat the Dark Side the Jedi in Training are given a certificate to show their participation and a badge to say that they attended.
Jedi Training Academy Tips
We've got a few tips for Jedi Training at Disney World and wanted to share them with you!
- Head straight to the sign-ups as soon as you arrive in the park. In August when we visited this was extremely popular and we were lucky to get a space.
- As you are in the line check your fast passes as well as the shows and events you may want to do so you can plan the experience around your other activities
- It is an outdoor activity so due to the weather can be cancelled. When planning check the weather and avoid times when rain is likely to get the best possible chance of avoiding an upset child.
- When the Jedi Training starts make sure you get your memory maker checked that makes getting the images much easier
If it is cancelled due to the weather then make sure you have a plan check out our guide of what to do in the rain at Walt Disney World.
